Captive Heart
It was the first night I saw you again,
My body welcomed your sight.
I had no control over my body as it betrayed my timid thoughts, my deepest desires of you.
You didn't notice my breath tighten,
Or my lips become agape.
Nor did you see my eyes,
As they became target on your own.
Captivity became my limbs.
Overtaken, I dare not move.
You never noticed the change in the air,
As the scent of you greeted me.
You looked beyond the rigidity of my skin,
As chills ran up my spine.
You greeted my being, my soul,
With only a smile and hug as your doorbell.
My only weapon was to give in to your touch,
As your arms and chest encased my body.
Such warmth and gentleness in your embrace,
My soul felt relief, just from your hug
You didn't notice the relaxation within your grasp,
As my muscles fell weak and failed.
All the time on earth suddenly was this moment.
Some may say time stopped and watched,
For one moment, time did not exist.
My breath released from my lungs,
In syncopation with your beating heart.
It was beating, but
It was still.
This greeting was beyond a normal circumstance.
Many times we had met,
Many times we had spoken of our hearts.
Never had you noticed the echo mine made.
You never noticed your gentle nature.
Your hands so delicately danced.
Your silence, an invitation to speak.
But you didn't notice the sound I made.
You never noticed the beauty of your smile,
Or the medicine that was your laugh.
You couldn't accept your perfection,
And did not notice your worth.
But I notice you everyday,
You are in my thoughts, daily.
Your kindness, and gentle nature
Draws me in, like a moth to flame.
You did not know of your kind eyes,
They beckon my heart to dance with them.
The icy paleness are alike to glaciers
Though sadness may drive their ship.
And though we may be unalike,
I appreciate our differences.
Never has someone been more kindhearted
Than you've been to me; and I thank you for that.
I am so glad to hold friendship with you,
A good hearted man with a gentle spirit,
The dark fox of the night wood,
You bless my soul unimaginably.
Sincerely yours forever,
TWENTY XX
